求职中的 CV 和 resume 的区别

The primary differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae (CV) are the length, what is included and what each is used for.

求职中的 CV 和 resume 的'区别

A resume is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education. While a resume is brief and concise - no more than a page or two. Actually, it is recommended that you keep it to one page. No one wants to scan through two or more pages of your long-winded accomplishments and experience. If it doesn‘t all fit--which it won‘t, unless you‘re a college grad with 15 years of professional experience--cut it down to the most relevant and impressive items. You should tailor your resume to match the job description, so be sure to cut and paste accordingly.

The curriculum vitae, commonly referred to as a CV, Vita, or Vitae, differs from a resume not only in length but also in detail. The origin of the term curriculum vitae is Latin and means "the course of one‘s life or career." As such, it is a detailed biographical description of one‘s educational, academic and work background as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details.

The curriculum vitae, long in use among professionals in higher education, has gained currency among under graduates applying for admission to graduate and professional schools, as well as among applicants for selected areas of employment such as those in research, teaching, and management. Moreover, because of the growing tendency to use brief application forms--often only two pages long -- some graduate and professional programs actually encourage applicants to enclose a CV with their applications. For these reasons, the curriculum vitae is often referred to as an "academic resume."

In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, or Asia, employers expect to receive a curriculum vitae. In the United States, a curriculum vitae is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. It is also applicable when applying for fellowships or grants.
