职场英语：“求救呼叫”英语怎么说
当地时间 6 月 1 日晚法航一架满载 216 名乘客从巴西里约热内卢机场飞往巴黎的戴高乐机场的 A330 客机在起飞三个半小时后失事，机上包括机组人员在内的' 228 人疑全部遇难，死难人数之多为法航 75 年历史之最。飞机失事原因目前仍在调查中。

一场风暴怎么会让由三名经验丰富的飞行员操控的现代化飞机没来得及发出求救呼叫就坠毁，这很让专家们困惑。
上面的报道中，mayday call 就是“求救呼叫”，也可以用 distress call/signal 来表示。Mayday is an emergency code word used internationally as a distress signal in voice procedure radio communications. It derives from the French venez m'aider, or m'aidez, meaning "(you) come help me"（mayday 是国际通用的无线电语音求救呼叫用语，来源于法语中的 venez m'aider 或 m'aidez（发音相似），意为“来帮我”）。
既然 mayday 是用于语音求救呼叫的，那么如果无法实现语音求救，我们可以用什么标志来发出信号呢？对，就是 SOS。这个字母组合是国际莫尔斯电码求救信号，并非任何单词的缩写。In International Morse code, the distress signal (• • • — — — • • •), three dits form the letter S, and three dahs make the letter O, so "SOS" became an easy way to remember the correct order of the dits and dahs（在国际莫尔斯电码中，求救信号里的三个点就是字母 S，而三条短线则是字母 O，这样 SOS 就成了记忆正确求救信号顺序的一个好办法）。
另外，SOS 不论从哪个角度看都是 SOS，因此也从某种程度上增加了求救成功的几率，这个求救信号的广为人知也不是没有道理的。
