Asis vividly depictedin the cartoon, fourchildren are playing a "football match" of taking care of their aged father. Each of them stands in adifferent corner of a football field. The eldest son kicked out the father with the other three children guarding their goals.
Thepurpose of the drawing is to show us that due attention has to be paidto the mistreatment of senior citizens. First and foremost, some people shirktheir duty of financiallysupporting their old and helpless parents due to their own interests. Furthermore, some elderly people are often ill-treatedby their own children and cannot lead a normal life. In the second photo, this young man isdoing Beckham’s chichairstyle in a barbershop. We are informed that he isspending 300 yuan imitating his idol’s hairdo.
Undoubtedly, the photos have subtlyreflected the social phenomenon that idol worship is prevalentamong the youth nowadays. Beckham representsthe image of sport hero whose handsome appearance and unparalleled football skills are passionately adored byall the sportsfans. Likewise,several teenage girls won their fame overnight in The 2005 Super Girl ContestinChina,which provokednationwide noisy debates on the value and harm of admiring these idols. Generallyspeaking, young people are inclinedto adore the people who excelin appearance, intelligence or talent.
In my opinion, idol worship, the thought-provokingsocial phenomenon, is a double-edged sword which candeeply influencethe growth of young people. If we simply worship the idols by imitating theirhairstyles or pursuing fashions unreasonably,the obsessionwill certainly waste us a great deal of money or time, endangering theefficiency of our work.
