My interview experience in HK
Hi,there:
This is my interview experience in Hong Kong,if you aren't
interesting in it,just drop it and I'm sorry to make a trouble
with you. Please feel free to ask me if you have any question.
My immigration application for Canada was submit to HK in
the November 1999 because it was said the processing speed in
HK was faster than Beijing. Unfortunately,the situation changed
in the Spring of 2000, so I have to wait for a long time.
Finally,I got my interview waiver in the Feb. 2001 before I
took a vacation to Beijing. Since then,I began to prepare my
interview. I arrived in HK in May 27 to attend my interview (May
28,10:15am),and the interview only took me 10 minutes, much
easier than I image.
1) How to access to 12F exchange square
The Exchange Square is near to Center Station and Hong Kong
Station.There are also a bus terminate in the ground floor.So it
is convienent to access to the Exchange Squre and the road sign
is also clear enough,I bet you mustn't loss it.
When you enter the Exchange Square One Bld, you should take
the escalator at 1F to 3F and change to the elevator to reach
12F.
I recommend you arrive 12F not too early and also not too
late. I think it will be the best if you reach there 30-45
minutes before the interview time. Too early will annoy you.
Why? You should know there must be someone who don't pass the
interview, so if you see some people was refused, you should be
presured. Too late,you may give a bad impression to the officer,
because they must take a while to review your application again
before your interview. This is why you should arrive a little
early to announce the officer that you're ready to interview.
2)Get interview number and wait
At the entrance door, a guider will check your interview
letter, and tell you at which receipt counter you should exchange
your interview number with your interview letter. Then you can
sit down to wait until your number is called.
At 12F,they are not only processing interview, but also
issuing other visas. Be quiet and calm even the waiting is
boring!
3) Interview
At interview, the officer will confirm your document with
you. You have to show your original file to him or her. Some
rumors are broading that they don't believe your notary because
some applicants provided counterfeit material. It is very
important to bring all of your original document!
You should copy your or your family's passport. They need it
when you pass your interview.
But I recommend you don't show extra documents to the officer
if the documents are not so much important because they won't
help you and just make yourself some troubles.
Answer the questions just simple such as YES or NO until
they ask you to explain the detail. Believe it!
In fact,the officers have estimated your application,to some
extent, they have a result before your interview. It is very
hard to reverse the result. In general,if they ask the questions
brief, you must be a victor, or others,you are in a diffcult
situation. This is why the victors say it is so easy to pass the
interview,and the failors complain the officer.
Anyway,if you have oversea work experience, it must help you.
4) medical examination
After you pass the interview, you will be asked to take
medical examination.
You can take it in HK or not,but they advice you to take it
in HK if you are living in PRC.
At last,I recommend you that apply general job title in your
field. For example,you work in the IT field as a software,the PG
or Software Engineer is much better than analysis. You should
know, the qualification is not so strict in China,so you can do
it in China not mean you can also apply it in Canada.The higher,
the fewer.In fact,your purpose is success to immigrate to Canada,
there are no constraints that you have to work as you apply.So
why do not make your application simple?
