When you start your sales resume with a job objective section that quickly tell the prospective employer: This document is directed to whom. The envelope might be opened by a clerk in Human resources. The job objective written in the resume helps the clerk to know which hiring person should get your resume. If you don't write this statement then the clerk will decide to which department he/she will send your resume.

• The objective statement also tells the employer which position you are looking for. If you don't specify the objective it will indicate that up till now I have done this much now what should I do next? This is a weak approach. So by writing an objective in your sales resume you give your resume strength and focus.
• The objective also states that what kind of responsibility you are seeking.
• The objective statement interprets that everything that follows is relevant to the position. This statement is not history of your life but a marketing piece.

How to write your sales job objective statement:

The objective of your sales resume should be as concise as possible. Some resumes include fluffy statements with job objectives buried in them. They include some phrases such as, "room for advancement", "challenging position", and "opportunity to grow". Avoid such kind of fluffy statements as it doesn't say much to the employer. The employer wants to know:

• The title ("Sales Representative", "Manager")
• The work area ("Sales", "Marketing")
• Specialization area ("focusing on graphic design", focus on new business development").

Following are some examples:

• Director of Marketing.
• A position as Sales Representative.
• Associate Field Producer, TV Programming
• Administrative position with emphasis on finance.

If you want to give a more generic approach to your situation, try like this:

• An accounting position
• A position in Sales

Alternatively, you can use a title near or next to your name at the top of your resume.
