  荆州元宵节吃特色米团子。 云梦县(今之江汉)老农夫於元宵夜持火炬偏照田圃,叫“照绝地蚕”。儿童则以田鼓迎神,以卜岁事。武昌的“弄龙”要一连三天。全村的男女老少都跟随龙灯到邻村赴宴,称为“龙换酒”。2015年3月1日,湖北省武汉市江汉区在汉口文体中心举行了龙腾江汉喜迎羊年元宵佳节舞龙锣鼓大赛暨民俗表演活动。来自该区唐家墩等12条街道唐蔡等百余个社区的近千居民人健健康康,喜气洋洋进行了19个节目的舞龙锣鼓大赛、民俗表演等,他们自娱自乐,利用喜闻乐见的方式,丰富多彩的宣传了社会主义核心价值观,在寓教寓乐中,传承了中华民族的年俗文化,喜迎羊年元宵佳节到来。

  常德上元各家以椒为汤,加入韭菜儆果诸物款待客人,称为“时汤”。新田县游完龙灯后,将龙灯付之一炬,称为“送灾”。

  湖南郴州市苏仙区正源村的村民正在为即将到来的“火仙牛”闹元宵进行最后的彩排。据村民介绍,牛是该村的守护神,“火仙牛”源于一个古老的神话故事,村民们在每年的正月十五日,会用稻草扎成牛的形状再插上香火与火龙一起闹元宵,以此为本村保平安。
