An auditor is an accountant. The duty of an auditor is to review company's financial records such as receipts, taxes, and purchase orders. There are two types of auditors:
External Auditor
External auditor also called as independent auditor who are self employed or work with public accounting firms. Internal Auditor
The responsibilities of internal auditors are same as of external auditors. But there is a little bit difference between these two types of auditors. The internal auditors work a one company and receive salary from the same company. They are responsible for evaluating and examining the financial system of their firm to assure that it is running economically and efficiently. Also they examine all the financial records, including payroll records, accounting books, and inventory and equipment records.
To get a career position as an auditor, one should have at last a bachelor's degree with specialization in accounting. Courses in communications, economics, humanities and computers are also helpful. Most of the external auditors also complete their advanced degrees, such as a master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a law degree.
The auditors get the employment in various accounting and finance agencies. The best place to get started career as an auditor is a public accounting firm. When a person gain some experience in general accounting, they can start to specialize in auditing.

Often auditors travel for their work and do most of their work in the offices of their clients, in banks and other financial organizations. Auditors can find out job vacancies from internet job banks, accounting firms, and from classified ads in newspapers.
