Executive Resume Examples

Updated:2008/04/28

Executive resumes are written for professionals in high level management positions. Common job titles include Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), President, Vice President and Director. It is also not uncommon for consultants (usually a former executive) to work in an executive level capacity when consulting for a board of directors.

The executive resume usually includes more detail. It's most common to see executive resumes written in 2 pages and maybe even 3 pages depending on overall experience. The reason for more detail is to provide necessary information for a group of people to review.

Usually executives are hired by a group rather than an individual. More often, this group doesn't have hundreds of resumes for the position and the resume isn't scanned or browsed quickly.

Executives should never use an objective, but rather a block paragraph summary with 5-10 statements that highlight key skills and expertise. Many writers will also list job titles as a header to the resume, such as "Senior Finance Executive" to clearly state from the beginning who you are and what kind of position you are looking for. There is no need to be ambiguous.

The executive resume samples were contributed from resume service firms across the country. These resume services include professional and certified resume writers from the NRWA and PARW.
