Duties of art director are to present approaches, formulate design concepts and direct workers who are engaged in art work, design and copy writing for communications media such as newspapers, books, magazines and packaging. They are responsible for overseeing the artistic design of advertisement, filming of television commercials and print materials.

The quality of finished products is also decided by them. If there is any mistake or imperfection in print then the art director is responsible for that.
