How to Dress for a Babysitting Job
Wether you've landed your first babysitting job or just have a
job for a new family, you always want to make a good impression.
And clothes are just one of the many steps.
Steps
- Were normal clothing. Nothing flashy, gothic, ripped etc.
- If you have any peircings, ears, nose, eye, anywhere, take them
out. Kids, especially babies love to grab.
- Also avoid jewlery. You don't need any. You don't want your
favortie beaded necklace broken or pulling on your bracelet.
- Wear comfortable clothing. Plain t-shirts, sweat pants, old
jeans (make sure there comfortable though) cozy socks, and sneakers
if you'll be outside. If you wear flip-flops and you take them off,
stick them in your bag (if they'll fit). You don't want little kids
playing with the dirt on the bottom of your shoe or throwing them
across the room!
- If you don't have any babysitting type clothes, use your money
from previous jobs and go buy some.
- Keep the makeup minimal. Don't wear tons of eye liner, lipstick
or blush. Keep it simple.
Tips
- Make sure necklines aren't too low.
- Leave room to breathe. No suction tight clothes.
- A good rule of thumb is that be sure that you don't wear
anything you don't want the kids to wear. For example: Don't wear
ripped jeans if you think one of the kids might go in and rip up a
perfectly good pair of jeans. (It's happened before)
- Be sure that if you have semi-permanent or permanent colored
hair dye (like pink, red, blue, green, etc.) that you try to wear
your hair up or in a hat so that it's the least noticeable. You
obvoiusly don't want the parents to think your a freak, and if a
kid looks up to you, you wouldn't want them coloring their hair
with a marker, now would you?
Warnings
- Never wear skimpy or very revealing clothes. Parent's won't
hire you again.
